Sabres Representing in the Awards Voting
June 19th, 2009 | by Vance |But not very well. James Mirtle has all the votes for every award listed out, and hey, let’s take a look at how our boys did. Off we go.
Vezina Trophy
Ahhh no votes here. 9 players received either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place votes, with Tim Thomas taking home the prize. I really am surprised somebody didn’t give Ryan Miller one 3rd place vote. But hey, we can thank Scotty Gomez and that slew foot for everything!
Hart Trophy
Hahahahahaha moving on.
Norris Trophy
Hahahahahaha keep going.
Jack Adams
Sorry Lindy, better luck next year.
Calder Trophy
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Buffalo Sabre sighting. The 13th best rookie in 2009, as voted by the hockey media, is blueliner Chris Butler, who received a grand total of 5 points. Yeah, those 5 points were virtue of a single 3rd place vote, but he earned those damn 5 points.
Selke Award
Oh my, major (yet oh so minor) props for Sabres in the best defensive forward columns. Derek Roy leads all Sabres with a 41st place showing, again with a single 3rd place vote. While Dominic Moore and Jason Pominville sit tied with Alex Ovechkin (seriously?) for 50th place with 3 points.
Lady Byng Trophy
Naturally the Sabres would be represented well in the nice guy trophy voting. Jason Pominville ranks 15th, with a total of 29 points. Ryan Miller apparently is very polite while in net and scores 10 points, ranking 28th. Thomas Vanek gets some votes, as he scores 4 points, good enough for the 52nd spot on this list.
So hey congratulations fellas for your hard work this season, congratulations to all the winners as well.
